Lignano is located between Venice and Trieste, in the middle of what has always been the gateway to the East. For this reason history has left traces of important events. Aquileia was the city of the Roman Empire, a bulwark against invasions from the east. Today you can admire the ancient ruins and its beautiful basilica. Palmanova is famous for its star-shape, while Villa Manin is the wonderful legacy of the Venetian period.
Close to the border with Slovenia, the ground is enhanced by the soft hills, where the famous white wines of Friuli are native.
Finally the Marano lagoon with its particular ecosystem and its nature reserve.
Even in Lignano there are many opportunities to have fun. The Aquasplash, with slides and big pools. the Strabilia, a super fun fair for your children, the Gommosi and Junior Park. Finally, the Punta Verde Zoo, with over 1500 animals, for the delight of young and old.

This year then, it will be easy and practical to reach Lignano Pineta by using the seafront road of Getur, which, for the first time, since summer 2015 is open to the public and can be covered on foot or by bicycle.
